The close glaciers of the Dom and Allalinhorn provide winter sporting opportunities throughout the year. Other peaks including Weissmies, Nadelhorn and Lenzspitze provide popular climbs in the summer months and wonderful hiking routes including the Monte Rosa trail. Winter sports for which this town is so popular include skiing, snowboarding, carving, snowshoe trekking, ice climbing and canyon climbing. With 22 lifts including three cable cars, a funicular railway, five gondolas and two chair lifts, there is no shortage of access to the slopes. Visitors will find slopes to suit all levels of skiing ability with beginner, intermediate and advanced slopes. A man-made ice-rink as well as a natural one are available for guests in Saas-Fee and skates can be hired from Saas-Fee Hotels. Other activities offered are paragliding, hang gliding and tobogganing. The resort also features the highest underground funicular railway in the world which transport visitors to the ski slopes and the highest revolving restaurant in the world at 11,500 feet.
Saas-Fee can be reached by car or bus. Cars have to be left in designated parking areas outside the town, a decision taken by the village at the time of the construction of the road from Saas Grund in 1951. Buses run much of the day from Brig and Visp which also have to stop at the bus terminal during the winter months. Only small electric vehicles operate on the streets which have a nasty habit of quietly driving up behind visitors and hooting causing much consternation!
Saas-Fee Hotels offer many off-slope activities as well. Cultural highlights include classical music concerts, while sports and leisure complexes provide in-door activities and nightclubs, bars and restaurants ensure a lively and dynamic nightlife. It is no wonder that Saas-Fee is known as 'The Pearl of the Alps'. Guests can also enjoy participating in volleyball, table tennis and basketball.
Guests to Saasfee hotels will have no trouble getting around and walking is the easiest and cheapest. The village is small so everything is within walking distance. The lovely traditional wooden houses that are required to be built out of 40% wood are charming and blend into the surroundings.

Cozy wooden furniture, wooden floors, writing desk and corner seating units, large windows allowing in natural light and providing spectacular views, fireplaces and open roof beams are just some of the fine decorations and finishings to be found in Saas-Fee guest rooms. Suites and apartments include separate living areas and bedrooms with an open gallery and spiral staircase and family units with two separate bedrooms are also available.
